Margaret
Simpson & Tom Druecker
Margaret
Simpson and Tom Druecker established Slugfest in the
summer of 1996. Margaret Simpson has an MFA in Printmaking
from Massachusetts College of Art. Tom Druecker
has an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Texas
in Austin. Both artists teach lithography at the University of Texas in Austin. They
have received further training in lithography from the
Tamarind Institute and in intaglio from Rutgers University
and Crown Point Press. Their combined experience
and expertise allows them to collaborate successfully with both
novice and experienced artists.

name Slugfest evolved from the term "art slugs", an earlier tongue-in-cheek
name we invented for ourselves and other printmakers in graduate
school, referring to the relatively sluggish nature of the printmaking
process
